Being a mother in June — It’s a sweet thing.
Not because anything particular is happening but because June is a favorite of mine. The gardens are growing, the days are warm, the bird feeder is busy and I no longer need a sweater in church (bliss).
Summertime through the eyes of motherhood is so tender. Getting to experience the abundance of June with my baby for the first time is pure joy. I am holding this month as close to my heart as I can.
I am finding myself extraordinarily rusty when it comes to writing. Which makes sense, considering I’ve been on a mama-hiatus for eight months. My mind reluctantly forms coherent sentences while trying to see through the postpartum fog. But there’s something so fresh and nurturing about the June air — The warmth it brings carrying all the summer birdsong along with it. It’s romantic, it’s healing. It’s when I finally feel like I’ve dusted the final remnants of winter off of me. The parks are green, the neighborhood streets are busy with strollers, and the windows are open.
The month of June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart — And I think you can genuinely feel that whether you’re aware of it or not. Jesus’ Divine Heart burning with rays of love towards us is so easy to feel in the June sun. His love pouring out onto us and warming up our own hearts that have grown cold, bitter, or lacking in charity.
Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make my heart like unto thine.

I have been arranging flowers in my home — bringing June inside and creating a space of abundance. I take so much care in creating our home, even in the messiness of motherhood, I’ll crown my kitchen with a bouquet of flowers to accompany the dirty dishes. The June blooms keep me company as I wash, rinse and repeat throughout the day. A small and heartfelt nod to trusting the process of mothering and home keeping.
I’ll wrap up my ode to June here — But writing has felt like it can have a seat at my table again. Which feels like another sweet blessing June has brought me. Eager to write more on Substack and connect with you all. Hope your June so far has been warm and honeyed!
Time for God by Jacques Philippe — A stunning read on mental prayer. One of my favorite books I’ve read all year.
God bless you & peace be with you! 🕊️🕯️
